NEWS BRIEFS: Using a Crisis to Justify a Decision Already Made?

FROM THE STATE NEWS: “‘MSU Athletics is facing a financial crisis unlike any we’ve ever seen in college athletics,” (Athletic Director) Beekman and (President( Stanley said in an announcement. ‘Our best-case scenario this year projects a revenue shortfall of over $30 million. Our worst-case scenario would more than double that number.’ But, according to Beekman, MSU was set to cut the team (women’s and men’s swimming and diving teams) as early as the fall of 2019, months before the first virus case was detected in Wuhan or MSU tickets were going unsold.” Read more here.
