Just when you think there is more than enough money and commercialization in major college football and basketball, more money and commercialization enters the scene. The line into new territory gets crossed, again and again, taking these sports farther away from their amateur roots and positioning them tenuously with their higher education host.
Our panel
Jason Kelly is associate editor of the Notre Dame Alumni Magazine, and he also serves as acting director of Notre Dame’s journalism school. Ellen J. Staurowsky is a professor in the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College. Jared Good is a third-year law student at Penn State Law. Mickey Plumley, Dick Roberts, Charlie Fisher, and Bob Zitelli are legacy college football players (late 1960s at West Virginia University). The program is hosted by Frank Fear.
