PERSPECTIVES: Pulitzer Prize Winner Critiques Big-Time College Athletics

Gilbert Gaul is a two-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize. His newest book is “Billion Dollar Ball: A Journey Through Big-Money Culture of College Football.” In a recent article (read it here) Gaul summarizes his critique of major college athletics. A theme in his argument: billions of dollars toward athletics–at a time when states have cut collegiate funding and when tuition is the highest in history–undermines our nation’s commitment to higher education.
