In a public letter, U. of Michigan affiliates wrote: “You (Weiser) have to choose between supporting the U of M and supporting the darkest factions of U.S. political life. You can not do both.” A month later–after referring to elected state-level officials as ‘witches’ and making comments about “assassinating” two U.S. Representatives–U of M Regents voted to censure Weiser and strip him of committee assignments.
