PERSPECTIVES: Commentary Published in The Detroit News Targets MSU Board

DN’s DANIEL HOWES, writing in the January 13 edition: “Dysfunctional cultures, like facts, are stubborn things. Expectations for a transparent start (with a new Board chair) would require the triumph of hope over experience. And when it comes to the MSU Trustees and their refusal to discern how deeply their behavior damages credibility, depressing experience trumps all….  They (Trustees) can choose to do what they know: to deny, scapegoat, and gaslight, or they can demonstrate by action that cultures can change (by) choosing transparency over obfuscation…. To real leaders, the choice is clear.”
