FROM BRIDGE MICHIGAN: “The University of Michigan went all-in on diversity, equity, and inclusion in 2016 — launching what has become one of the country’s most expansive (and expensive) campus programs in the country. But eight years later, the school this week took the first step in what could be a larger effort to scale back DEI initiatives amid scrutiny over the spending and political pressure from Republicans like President-elect Donald Trump, who has likened it to “Marxist” indoctrination. U-M announced it will no longer solicit “diversity statements” in the hiring, promotion, or tenure process.
