NEWS BRIEFS: Faculty Decry Academic Program Review Effort at UConn

From the American Association of College Professors: “A top-down and opaque review process at the University of Connecticut is targeting, reducing, and closing academic programs while bypassing protocols of shared governance and faculty input. The provost initiated the review process over a year ago, and its haphazard and nontransparent implementation has left faculty frustrated and fearful about the fate of the state’s flagship public university. “I think there’s this feeling of … the university is going in the wrong direction. These are bad choices, bad processes, poorly thought out, and we could do much better.” Jeremy Pressman, UConn-AAUP
