PERSPECTIVES: Universities and Colleges, “Home to and Sponsor of Critics”

Nearly 60 years ago, amid social turmoil in America, the president of the University of Chicago assembled a faculty committee to discuss and propose how UC should respond institutionally. The outcome, known widely as the Kalven Report, was named after Harry Kalven, Bigelow Professor of Law at the University of Chicago Law School.
