In 1995, Robert Barr and John Tagg authored an article that set in motion a sea change in the way educators view undergraduate education. Published in Change, the article was entitled, From Teaching to Learning: A New Paradigm for Undergraduate Education. 2020 marks the 25th anniversary of its publication. Co-author Bob Barr joins Frank Fear in reflecting on the article, its impact, and higher education in general. Listen to it at ‘Under the Radar with Host Frank Fear.’
It is great to celebrates the 25th Anniversary of the term of learning paradigm, a powerful term! But one should feel sorry and wonder if one looks at what happened since 1995. In his recent book” The instruction myth: why higher edcution is hard to change and how to change it” (2019). Tagg said “only few universities have systematically implemented those suggestions”. This is really a sad fact. But why? this is I wondered about.
