University of Kansas doctoral candidate Scott Raines, writing in Deseret News: “The centuries-long change in values from seeking transcendent knowledge and developing the soul, to values-based merely on “useful” information exchanged for monetary gain, has slowly stripped the university of one of its primary sources of meaning.
