I did not get through it at first, just dumbfounded by the stupidity.
Then I saw it. Bachelor of Science in English Education. That’s my degree. That’s every great colleague I had in my department, 10s of thousands of children, now adults, a full-grown tree formed with seeds of great people teaching the roots available in pursuit of literacy as a science; with the art of education.
AI will write better than us, but it will never be able to tiptoe the gift of literacy, and make people better by knowing how to meet them in their heart, and mind.
Then they come for you… keep fighting, former students, keep writing your own words. Be literate about what you read and find the bullshit and call it out. Double your efforts.
Trade books. Go to the library. Critic relentlessly but poetically; own the ideas by an honest appeal to truth.
Stick and stones? They hurt. Make the words heal, but throw hard; master the strike zone with empathy and unconditional love and protection. Explain justice, and be literate enough to do so to adversaries.
Have no enemies. Seek peace and compromise. Your voice matters.
