Replacing traditional forms of administration is proposed by Blanca Missé and James Martel, San Francisco University. The professors argue “for eliminating college presidents, provosts, deans, and other top-level administrators who currently exercise political and financial control over faculty, staff, and students.” Then the authors “examine how the idea of shared governance disguises the de facto dictatorship of administration over faculty self-governance, explore how this power grab took place, and explore alternative forms of faculty self-management in U.S. history and abroad.”
