FROM FORBES: “The U.S. Department of Education issued notice Monday that it’s preparing to overhaul the college accreditation system, with an announcement that a negotiated rulemaking committee would be formed to develop new regulations and make it easier for new accreditors to become recognized and approved. The Accreditation, Innovation, and Modernization (AIM) Committee will address as many as 10 topics that include: eliminating the use of accreditation standards for diversity, equity, and inclusion; promoting “high-quality, high-value programs that are free from unlawful discrimination and other violations of Federal law;” “prioritization of intellectual diversity amongst faculty;” making sure accrediting agencies are “separate and independent from any related, associated, or affiliated trade association or membership organizations;” and “addressing other Administration priorities relating to accreditation.” Read more here.
